This is a preliminary website for exploring Yale Youth Poll (YYP) survey results. Select a wave, define demographic groups with optional subgroup dimensions, pick one or more questions, and the tool will produce weighted crosstabs you can export as CSV.
A note on weighting: each single wave is weighted with its own official YYP weighting, so single-wave results match the toplines at youthpoll.yale.edu (Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 raked to each cycle's official registered-voter targets; Fall 2025 uses Yale's shipped weights; Spring 2026 uses the official 138b procedure). Results are weighted to the full registered-voter electorate, not the youth subsample, so they line up with YYP's “all voters” figures. Stacking pools weighted respondents across the selected waves — note that because each wave uses its own weighting, cross-wave stacked comparisons mix weighting schemes (harmonizing this is still in progress). Every question asked in any pooled wave is available; the column label tags partial coverage (e.g. [S26] or [F24+S25]), and the weighted N naturally restricts to respondents who were asked the question.
Caveats
- MaxDiff aggregation is new — please kick the tires. The issue-rank, D-electable, and R-electable MaxDiffs should now render as per-item win rates (picks ÷ times shown) in the Fall 2025 wave, with per-cell ±MOE. We thinkthe math is right but it hasn't been heavily validated — if any item rate or cell looks off vs. what you'd expect from the topline, ping Milan. Spring 2025 and Fall 2024 didn't ship display-order data, so their MaxDiff columns still show pick frequencies (biased by exposure) and aren't pooled into stacked datasets.
- Cross-wave question matching is exact-text only. Stacked datasets pool by canonicalized variable name plus a second pass that matches columns whose normalized question wording AND option codes are identical across waves. Questions whose wording was edited even slightly between waves still appear as separate single-wave columns — silently pooling slightly-different questions is a worse failure than missing a pool.
